Where you start makes a big difference when you are learning to surf ski. The right launch means calm, protected water and an easy, confidence-building first paddle. Here are the best places to learn surf ski in Perth, and where we coach.

WA Rowing Club, Perth CBD
On the Swan River in the heart of the city, the WA Rowing Club offers calm, protected water that is ideal for beginners. It is our Monday and Wednesday morning base, minutes from the CBD, perfect for technique and base fitness before work.

Mosman Bay, Johnston Street Boat Ramp
A sheltered river launch with good facilities and a cafe nearby. The open river here is great for getting comfortable on your ski. We paddle from here on Tuesday mornings.
Hillarys Marina
Protected marina water with the option to head out to the open ocean when you are ready. It is the best of both worlds, and our Friday morning session starts here.

Port Beach, North Fremantle
When you are ready to step off the river and into the ocean, Port Beach is where it happens. Calm ocean conditions meet the thrill of catching small runs, with our Saturday afternoon session.
Where should a beginner start?
Start on the calm river water at the WA Rowing Club or Mosman Bay, then progress to the ocean at Hillarys and Port Beach as your confidence grows. See all our session times and locations, or read the full beginner's guide.
